Build

Chest (14)

Stage 1 – Assembly of the Right Spoiler
Step 1

Along the pre-scored lines, carefully bend the eyelets of the Upper Right Brake Fin to be upright 90°, as shown.

I recommend using a large set of flat tip pliers for this, such as Duck Bill Pliers:

Fit the eyelets of this Brake Fin to the Right Spoiler (marked ‘R’), aligning the holes as shown:

Step 2

Retrieve your Right Flap assembly from Issue 83. Fit the tab of the Right Spoiler into this notch, as shown:

Secure these parts together with one (1) TP screw:

Here is what this spoiler assembly should look like once assembled:

Stage 2 – Assembly of the Left Spoiler
Step 1

As before, carefully bend the eyelets of the Upper Left Brake Fin to be upright 90° along the score lines, then fit the eyelets of this Brake Fin to the Left Spoiler (marked ‘L’), aligning the holes as shown:

Step 2

Retrieve your Left Flap assembly from the previous stage. Fit the tab of the Left Spoiler into this notch, as shown:

Secure these parts together with one (1) TP screw:

Stage 3 – Assembly of the Spoilers in the Chest
Step 1

Retrieve your Back Armor Plate assembly from Issue 82. Fit the post of the Rear Right Shoulder Plate to the matching post at this right-side location on the Back.

I found that these two Spoiler assemblies will fit closer to the Back if the silver Fins inside are slightly bent to match the curve of the plastic, as shown:

Secure the Shoulder Plate to the Armor Plate from the inside with one (1) IP screw:

Step 2

In the same way, fit the post of the Rear Left Shoulder Plate to the matching post at this left-side location on the Back, as shown:

Secure this Shoulder Plate to the Armor Plate from the inside with one (1) more IP screw:

At this point, we can check the opening and closing of the rear flaps, spoilers, and fins:

Thoughts

While this entire rear air brake assembly looks fantastic, it is made of plastic. Be sure to take care when posing these parts to prevent damage.
