Build

Central Leg Support (5)

Stage 1 – Assembly of the Ball Joints for the Hips
Step 1

Retrieve your two Bearing Rings, one each from Issue 33 and Issue 52. These are marked ‘L’ and ‘R’ as seen here:

Slide the T-shaped end of a Ball Joint through the back of the left Bearing Ring (marked ‘L’), as shown:

When we mount this later on in the build, the ‘ball’ of the Ball Joint will eventually seat against the cup of the Bearing Ring, like this:

Fit the T-shaped end of the Ball Joint into this matching recess of the Cover for Central Leg Support 1 (this Cover has less screw holes):

Secure the Ball Joint into place from behind with two (2) LP screws:

Step 2

In the same way as before, slide the T-shaped end of the other Ball Joint through the back of the right Bearing Ring (marked ‘R’), as shown:

Fit the T-shaped end of this Ball Joint into this matching recess of the Cover for Central Leg Support 2 (this Cover has more screw holes):

Secure the Ball Joint into place from behind with two (2) more LP screws:

Base (1)

Stage 1 – Assembly of the Base
Step 1

Retrieve your Base from the previous issue. Match that Base up to this issue’s Support Base 2, as shown:

Slide the two Clips for the Base down over these tabs where the two Base edges meet to connect them together.

The instructions would have us slide these Clips all the way down. However, since I don’t think there is a ‘bottom’ to this base, I kept them at the top to help seal the gap between the two halves, as shown:

Step 2

Fit the four Connectors for the Base onto these matching sets of posts across the seam between the two Base parts:

Secure the Connectors to the Base with eight (8) LP screws, two for each Connector:

This is what our complete Base Cover assembly should look like:

Thoughts

I have heard that these Hip Joints needs to be quite firm once we install it to the legs or the figure has a hard time standing. We will investigate this when we get to that part of the build. We did not use the Lower Hip Armor yet, so keep it and these Hip Joints safe for now.
