Build
The Left Knee Joint (4)
Stage 1 – Fixing the Adhesive Tape
Step 1
Remove the backing paper from a piece of the Double-Sided Adhesive Tape, then stick it to the edge of the Washer as shown:
Remove the backing paper from the other side of the Adhesive Tape:
Step 2
Fit this Washer (with the Adhesive Tape facing down) inside this circular recess of the Upper Left Knee Joint, as shown:
Stage 2 – Gear Ring, Rotating Ring and Spring
Step 1
Retrieve your Cover of Left Knee Joint and Left Knee Lower Joint assembly from Issue 30. If needed, lift the Left Knee Lower Joint assembly off the Spring, as shown:
Fit the Left Knee Gear Ring over this other post of the Cover of Left Knee Joint, aligning the screw holes as shown:
Secure the Left Knee Gear Ring into place with two (2) LM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 2
Place the Left Knee Rotating Ring on top of this Left Knee Gear Ring, meshing the teeth of the two parts together as shown:
Slide the Spring onto the post so it rests on the Left Knee Rotating Ring, as shown:
Stage 3 – Placement of the Joint and Closure
Step 1
Fit the both Left Knee Joint assemblies over the Springs as shown:
You may find that the tabs of the two Rotating Rings need to be aligned into these slots of the Knee Joints before they will seat fully:
Steps 2-3
Retrieve your Left Knee Joint Cover assembly from the previous issue. While keeping the internal Washers in place, bring the two halves of the knee joint together as shown.
This was not very easy to do, trying to align everything and at the same time compress the Springs. Take your time and you will get it:
Steps 4-5
Hold the two Joint Covers together as you secure them with two (2) IM screws.
Once this is secured, make sure your Knee Joint mechanism is stiff but able to move. This joint has to support the weight of the model:
Step 6
Retrieve your Left Knee Screw Cap from the previous issue and press it into this hole on the Left Knee Joint Cover, as shown:
Thoughts
Finally, this Left Knee Joint is complete! We can now move on to another joint in the hip of our Iron Man build.
