Return to the BUILD

“Assembly of the Battle Damaged version of the left hand is completed in this issue. You don’t need to take off the original hand from the model yet, so keep the assembled hand in a safe place.”

NOTE: I will not be installing these parts on my Iron Man model, but I did want to share the parts included with these extension issues.

Materials: The Hand Shield and Palm of the Hand are metal, but the rest of the non-electronic parts are plastic.

Battle Damaged • Left Hand (2)

Stage 1 – Assembly of the Middle Finger (3L)

Align and fit the parts marked ‘3L’ together as shown with the flat ‘top’ of the fingers on the same side:

Secure these parts together with one (1) CP screw and one (1) FP screw, as shown:

Stage 2 – Assembly of the Ring Finger (4L)

Likewise, fit the parts marked ‘4L’ together as shown, then secure them to each other with one (1) CP screw and one (1) FP screw:

Stage 3 – Positioning the Screen

Fit the Screen into the Palm of the Hand, aligning the two screw holes and onto the locating pin, as shown. Secure this Screen into place with two (2) BM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Stage 4 – Positioning the LED Set

Fit the switch of the LED Set into this notch on the battery case of the same LED Set, as shown:

Retrieve your Back of the Hand from the previous issue. While holding this switch in place, fit the entire battery case of the LED Set into the Back of the Hand as shown, then secure the battery case into place with two (2) IP screws:

Gently tuck the small circuit board and wiring inside the recesses of the hand:

To prevent the short I experienced with one of my original hand assemblies, I covered the electrical terminals with pieces of electrical tape:

Stage 5 – Assembly of the Fingers and the Palm

Retrieve your three Finger assemblies from the previous issue. Fit the pins on the serrated tabs of all the Finger assemblies into these recesses of the Palm of the Hand, matching the part numbering to the positions shown:

Slide the Wrist Joint into this groove at the base of the Palm of the Hand, as shown:

Fit the Back of the Hand assembly down onto the Palm, capturing the Fingers as shown.

Make sure all of the wiring is clear of these two parts as you bring these parts together:

Secure the Back of the Hand to the Palm with three (3) EM screws:

Stage 6 – Assembly of the Battery Cover and Hand Shield

Insert a CR-1025 into the battery compartment with the positive (+) side towards the spring. Then, place the Battery Cover over the opening as shown and secure it into place with one (1) EP screw.

Using a pair of tweezers here to compress the spring can make installing this battery easier. Once this battery is installed, you can push the switch of the LED Set to test the operation of the repulsor light:

Place the Hand Shield into place on top of the Back of the Hand as shown. It will hold itself in place with magnets:

Our ‘battle damaged’ Left Hand assembly is now complete. It will be installed later on, so keep it stored safely for now.
